For those of you not familiar with the Champange breed here is a pictoral of how the breed goes from completely black when born to the beautiful silver color that the breed is famous for.
Obviously black. Fully furred now.
Getting around better, still in the box, eyes will open in another week. No signs of silvering.
Dramatic change in just 2 weeks. Out of the box, eyes open. Starting to see silvering around the eyes and the nose.
Silvering appears on front and hind feet. More silvering around the eyes and nose. Some on the tail.
I've included two pictures to show you the way two rabbits can change differently even in the same litter. The rabbit on the left is more silvered throughout it's body. The rabbit on the right is taking a little more time to silver out over it's body.
This picture shows an entire litter doing the change. These are around 8 weeks old. As you can see we have some ears changed over and some that are just starting.
At this stage, most of the body should be silvered, but depending on how the rabbit changed you can still have some black patches. As you can see around the lower portion of the rabbit is not completely changed. The rabbit's head is more silvered but you can still see a "mask" around the eyes and ears. This is usually the last area to change.
At 6 months old the Champagne is completely changed to it's beautiful silver color.
